GABRIEL ALOMAR, writer month

During the month of August, GABRIEL ALOMAR (Palma, 1873 - Cairo, 1941) is the writer of the month in the Municipal Library of Can Ventosa, in Ibiza.

He studied high school in Àvila and at the Instituto Balear. El 1888 moved to Barcelona to study law, that he abandoned for those of Philosophy and Letters. He was a professor at the Balearic Institute where he had students to the great poet Bartomeu Rosselló-Pòrcel and the writer Llorenç Villalonga who years later extended his work Dead by ladies.

He used different pseudonyms, such as "Biel de la Mel" in articles in Mallorquins weekly, “Fosfor” in their collaborations with the Catalan Town or “Albert of Beaurocher” in the Newspaper of Egypt.

He collaborated with The voice of Catalonia, The Catalan people, The advertising, The Balearic worker, etc. He published in Spanish The war of a soul (1917), The spiritual front (1918) y Verba (1919). en 1923 Public THE SORB OF HEROISM containing four stories.

En el año 1932 He was appointed ambassador to Rome. During the Spanish Civil War was a plenipotentiary minister in Egypt, position he held until 1939. As of this year and already as an exile he dedicated himself to teaching and collaborating in the newspaper The Journal of Egypt.

from 2000 He began to edit his complete work. In addition to the two municipal libraries, Alomar's work is present in the personal libraries of Marià Villangómez and Jean Serra ceded both of the historical archive of Ibiza and Formentera (AHEiF).
