José M. PRATS MARÍ PRESENTS 'IBIZAN CORSAIRES IN GIBRALTAR’

Last 20 de abril, the officer of the Navy and graduate of the General Staff, José M. Prats Marí presented his book, ‘Ibizan corsairs in Gibraltar‘ at the Ibiza Yacht Club. This publication by Ibiza Editions, label that has recently joined the Melqart Media brand, It is the sixth number of the barbarian essay collection. This title compiles the intervention of local navigators in the Spanish siege of Gibraltar at the end of the 18th century.

Likewise, indicated that he came into contact with this issue thanks to the work of the historian Pere Vilàs, who "transferred to the Ibiza Archive everything they had on privateers in the Simancas Archive".

The journalist from Diario de Ibiza, José Miguel L. Romero, accompanied the author during the presentation and pointed out that Prats Marí "has written two reports for the newspaper [Ibiza] on the subject in the last year and, How did I still have material?, has written this book.

The editor Ramon Mayol indicated that the image on the cover belongs to a painting by the painter awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts, Augusto Ferrer-Dalmau. Lastly, he recalled that the publisher will present the essay again on 11 May at the Naval Museum of Madrid.

The event was followed by Periódico de Ibiza as well as the presence of numerous personalities from the world of culture: the historian Pere Vilàs; the writer Joan Marí Tur bottle and the insular director of culture, Michael Costa. The maritime captain of Ibiza also attended, Luis Gascón and the retired ship captain, Mariano Juan Ferragut.
