MARIÀ TORRES RECEIVES THE RAMON LLULL AWARD FROM THE BALEARIC GOVERNMENT

The Governing Council of the Balearic Islands awarded the Ibizan author Marià Torres one of them 15 Ramon Llull awards 2023 Last 20 February. This award distinguishes natural and legal persons who have stood out in the Balearic Islands for the services provided in the cultural fields, deportivo, legal, business, civic, humanitarian, research, teaching and linguistic.

Torres' multifaceted career has led him to make merits in several of these fields. In the teaching section, he went through several institutes in Ibiza and became the director of Quartó de Portmany. «Ramon Llull es una voz solemne y para mí, que me he pasado la vida enseñando su lengua y explicando su obra, es tocar el cielo y estoy muy agradecido por el premio que lleva su nombre», explica.

Por lo que respecta a la investigación y a la lengua, ha escrito numerosos libros de filología y cultura de Ibiza. «Siempre me he sentido muy reconocido y querido, pero que la gente que ha trabajado conmigo en teatro, coros o la edición y presentación de libros esté contenta es muy importante», assures.

Torres es un escritor vinculado a Edicions Aïllades, ya que publicó su libro de poemas ‘inland. overseas‘ y tiene proyectada una obra acerca de la historia del teatro en Sant Antoni con este sello literario. Recently, El musical project POEMilla incluyó en su repertorio de versiones musicales de poesía su texto ‘Dies de tardor’.

La entrega de premios se celebrará el 28 de febrero en la Llotja de Palma de Mallorca a las 19.00 horas. Junto con Torres asistirán el arquitecto formenterés Marià Castelló y la congregación de las Trinitarias de Santa Eulària, que han sido premiados por su labor profesional y su actividad social, respectively.
