WINNERS OF THE III JOANA MARIA POL I FIOL CONTEST
The eclectic library of the IES Santa Maria d’Eivissa, halfway between today and tradition, last Friday hosted the awards ceremony III Joana Maria Pol and Fio Literary Contestl. This contest was established in memory of the teacher of the same name, whose love for literature and classical culture motivated the Library Commission of l’IES Santa Maria d’Eivissa to pay an annual tribute to the two passions of the teacher.
Thus, The award center the best short stories written by ESO students and baccalaureate related to some aspect of the Greco -Roman civilization. The organization of the contest has the sponsorship of the Balearic section of the Spanish Society of Classic Studies, among whose members was Joana Pol. Likewise, And as is the case from the first edition of the contest, Editorial Edicions Aïllades has compiled the narrations awarded in a book In order to promote reading among the youngest.
This spirit of promotion of literature is what has made, With this new edition, The contest will be strengthened in the calendar of the Ibizan letters. This is certified by the fact that the previous year the organization expanded the contest at the Pitiuso level opening the possibility that they were awarded manuscripts signed by young authors of other centers.
The great novelty of this awards ceremony was the return of the act to the origin library of the contest thanks to the relaxation of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. So, The event left behind the space that the City Council of Ibiza offered to the coordinators to ensure a commemoration without infections and returned home.
