BES LAND is a dramatized reading that Produccions Aïllades has launched and that takes us to the 8th century. C., when Phoenician sailors began to expand from the city of Tire to the entire Mediterranean. Through a monologue with a solemn and evocative tone, The work recovers the voice of those who sailed uncertain seas and founded commercial ties, cultural and spiritual between distant peoples.
With only one actress on stage: Encarna de las Heras, solid and long track record, the narrative follows the itinerary of these Phoenician routes, that linked enclaves such as Sidon and Byblos, craft and religion centers, con Maleth (current Malta), obligatory stopover to the west; of Wheels, point of contact with the Greek islands, Leptis Magna's spear, in North Africa, exchange place with Libyan communities; of flourishing Carthage, founded as heir to Tire, to the colonies of the Iberian Peninsula, like Gadir and Malacca, rich in metals and agricultural products.
on this trip, arrival at Ayboshim (Ibiza) becomes a central moment. The island offered the Phoenicians a unique treasure: its salt flats, where the sea and the sun produce salt, essential resource for food preservation, sailors' health and long-distance trade. Salt wasn't just sustenance, but also a symbol of purity, alliance and eternity.
Along with this material good, the work highlights the spiritual force of the Land of Bes, a sacred powder that sailors kept in small leather bags as a protective amulet. Associated with the god Bes - protective figure against evils, patron of dance and joy—, This dust represented the safeguard of the soul against the dangers of the sea and the wandering life..
With a language inspired by classical tragedy, BES LAND, combines history and myth, commerce and spirituality, to offer the public a theatrical experience that illuminates the Phoenician legacy and the deep relationship between the Mediterranean, the salt of Ayboshim and the land consecrated to the god Bes.
el martes 23 from December, a las 18.30 hours the dramatized reading moves to Cala de Bou. BES LAND in the auditorium of Es Caló de s’Oli. MARCELA FRIEDERICHS, will accompany the actress, Encarna de las Heras. Admission is free.
