A calm reading

Ramon Mayol,, con The language of waves and other stories, the fifth book he published, offers us a compilation that stands as a literary piece of an unusual sensitivity within the current narrative panorama. The author, faithful to its vision rooted in the Mediterranean, displays precise and elegant prose, who knows how to combine emotion with reflection, and poetics with lucidity.

Each story is a wave in itself—an oscillation between the tenderness and hardness of the human condition—that sweeps us along without abruptness., but with an underground force, towards territories where the word becomes living matter. Mayol demonstrates great skill in the art of suggestion: says as much as he is silent, and it is in this literary silence where a good part of his narrative wisdom is hidden..

The language, of a native musicality rich in Balearic nuances, plays an essential role. It is not just a vehicle of expression, but a space of identity and resistance. The author makes the waves speak, Yes, but also the landscapes, the silences and absences, in an exercise that invites the reader to listen to the deep murmur of simple things.
The language of the waves and other stories is, definitely, a work that asks to be read calmly, like someone watching the sea at sunset: carefully, with respect and with the desire to understand what remains beyond words. An essential read for anyone looking for literature with soul, committed to the beauty and truth of our time.

— A small but intense gem, which confirms Ramon Mayol as one of the most refined and essential voices of contemporary island narrative.
The book can be achieved in bookstores, on the Literary Platform www.illes.cat and on Amazon.
