The Institute of Balearic Studies and the Bologna Book Fair

The IEB participates in the fair with the aim of meeting with different international publishers to promote illustrators from the Balearic Islands. On the other hand, These editors can benefit, as many have already done, of subsidies that the IEB offers for book publishing. Only in the year 2021, the Institute has already supported 120 Subsidy requests for book publication. Of these, approximately 45, a little less than half, They correspond to comics or illustrated books for children and young people.. Además, The IEB aims to gain contacts and expand the network of collaborators and editors who want to collaborate with Balearic authors..

From the IEB aid to mobility, Balearic illustrators Aina Bestard will participate, Toni Galmés and Canizales. Además, These are present in the catalog of publications that the IEB has prepared precisely on the occasion of the Bologna Fair.

The Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics also participates this year in the Comics Corner, a new section of the fair dedicated to children's and youth comics. A selection of works by authors such as Francesc Grimalt will be presented, Anabel Colazo or Óscar Martín. Además, as Aina Bestard and Violeta López already did, The illustrator Pere Ginard participates this year in the exhibition of illustrators at the fair.

The Bologna Children's and Youth Book Fair is undoubtedly one of the most important literary events in Europe. It is also a strategic meeting for editors and literary professionals from all corners of the world..
