LeOigo celebrates Writers' Day

en LeOigo.is we celebrate the Writers' Day with the free download of Maria VR stories. Promoted by the National Library, El 15 October is the Writers' Day, with the aim of vindicating the work and legacy of female writers throughout history.

This commemoration, which is convened on the Monday closest to the feast of Teresa de Jesús, started in Spain in the year 2016 to recover the legacy of women writers, make visible the work of women in literature and combat the discrimination they have suffered throughout history.

And is that, although many names of writers known and studied by specialists prior to the 19th century, They are rarely mentioned in study manuals and not even in university literary history programs in Spain.. In the XIX century, most women writers had to publish under a man's pseudonym to be taken seriously. Émily Brontë was forced to publish the novel Wuthering Heights under the pseudonym Ellis Bell.

It was not until the arrival of Virginia Woolf and Marguerite Yourcenas, in the twentieth century, when a change in trend starts, although with little significant progress. Today, in the rankings of the best books made at the end of each year in Spain, despite having successful writers, women rarely appear. In the same way, Desde 1995, El National Narrative Award a woman does not win it. On that occasion, the Mallorcan Carme Riera won it.

El Cervantes Prize, the most important of literature in the Spanish language has only been awarded since its institution in 1976 four women:Maria Zambrano (1988),Sweet Maria (1992), Ana Maria Matute (2010) and Elena Poniatowska (2013)  .

El nobel prize for literature, since its creation in 1901 has awarded 13 women and 100 mens.

For this reason, at LeOigo.es we want, symbolically, give visibility to women writers and during this week (until Sunday, 20 October) the stories of the Galician writer based in Ibiza, María VR have a completely free download. In the voice of Agustín Prades, the following accounts of Wild ponies:
