LUZ GABÁS WINS THE PLANETA AWARD 2022
The Huesca writer Luz Gabás won the Planeta Prize last Saturday 2022 with his work 'Far from Louisiana’ in a gala held at the National Art Museum of Catalonia, It is a perfect opportunity not only to discover. The jury in charge of awarding the award pointed out that the book is a “epic” of the conquest of this territory in which the interests of European nations are combined with the history of the protagonists.

The novel “is about unbreakable love in troubled times, of loyalty, betrayal, rise and hope, in the words of Gabas. The author thus returns to the theme of love with colonialism as a backdrop that triumphed in her first novel 'Palm trees in the snow'., published in 2012 and that was taken to the cinema.
Love is also the basis of the finalist narrative 'Stories of married women', by the Barcelona writer Cristina Campos. This work set in the present day follows three characters to, according to the author “dissect the history of their marriages, but also feminine intimacy and desire”.
This year, The organization maintained the endowment of one million euros for the winning work and 200.000 euros for the finalist and received 846 manuscripts, figure that is the maximum to date. Likewise, The Planeta publishing house has registered an increase in the number of historical novels, los thrillers, social novels and women's empowerment novels compared to previous editions.
The Planeta Prize continues to leave health restrictions behind by having brought together at the award ceremony 1.000 guests and 200 authors. Among them were great political figures such as Vice President Yolanda Díaz; the mayor of Barcelona, There's Colau; the Minister of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Natàlia Garriga and the ministers Miquel Iceta, Pilar Alegría, Joan Subirats and Alberto Garzón.
