MARIA DEL MAR BONET AND JOAN MANUEL SERRAT, DOCTORS HONORIS CAUSA BY THE UB
The UB awarded the singer-songwriters Maria del Mar Bonet and Joan Manuel Serrat honorary doctors last Monday. This is the highest distinction that the university grants.. with her, merits and academic career are recognized, culture or scientific of the person invested.
The University of Barcelona has decided to award this distinction to Bonet and Serrat for their role in the renewal of Catalan popular music in a context of recovery of language and culture.. On the other hand, They also recognize the ability of poetic and musical composition, of interpretation and commitment to the democratic values of freedom and solidarity.
The last personality from the world of music to receive this honor from the UB was Montserrat Caballé in 2010.

Maria del Mar Bonet was born in Palma de Mallorca in 1947 and she is the daughter of the versatile artist Joan Bonet Gelabert.
