This Thursday 2 October at 20.15 Hours are presented at the Can Ventosa Municipal Library (Ibiza) the books The language of the waves and other stories (EDICIONS AÏLLADES), Ramon Mayol, With photographs of Joaquim Seguí and ‘Balearen’ (Wieser), An anthology in German that includes two Mayol stories himself.

In the words of literary critic Josep Maria Nadal Suau, author of the prologue of El llenguatge de les ones:

The author shows a certain originality and innovation through the chosen narrative genre: narration-description-dialogue. Develop an argument in each of the stories, whose central idea is clearly transmitted to us and by the way in which it structures them, also your point of view.Mayol is, more than a writer, a narrator; it's not the same.

Enjoy telling the story, and perhaps charge it with a moral or social meaning, but it is not enchanted in the form, neither for better nor for worse. It is effective. And likewise, the particularities of the Ibizan language and a certain musicality, I suppose rescued from the nightclubs where she sings make this prose a pleasant experience., seductive.

Another prologue is also included, a porch, by Professor of Catalan Language and Literature Mariano Torres, as well as a prologue of the photographs of the poet Jorge Morales.

This is a sort of second edition of the author's first published book., 'Winning', searched, with new photographs and a new story, thirteen years after its presentation.

'Whale'

The Wieser publishing house published the book in German ‘Balearic‘ in a volume that is part of the 'Europa Erlesen' collection’ ('select Europe'), that disseminates the culture of different European regions to the German-speaking public through texts by different writers. 'The whale’ (with an initial run of 25.000 copies) is the book dedicated to customs, traditions and reality of the Balearic archipelago.

The philologist Marcela Friederichs will be in charge of the presentation, with Mariano Torres, in an event that will have the presence of the author, Ramon Mayol and the photographer Joaquim Seguí. The actress Àngels Martínez will read passages from some of the stories.
