INTERVIEW WITH EFRAÍN ESPINOZA

Ecuadorian poet Efraín Espinoza will present soon ‘From my lute‘, A Catalan version of Bartomeu Ribes of his poems ‘FROM MY LUTE‘. In this interview on the occasion of the publication of the number 15 Collection Ones de poesia Talk about your experience with translation, the Catalan, Ibiza and its literary influences.

INTERVIEW WITH JOSÉ M: The title indicates that 'From my lute’ about Ibiza. What is your relationship with the island?

Ephraim Espinoza: it's magnetic. I come from a tradition of mountains, so landing here was something new. Analysts of all times have set out to define the human being based on its different facets, I fell in love with everything in Ibiza.

The presentation will be the 9 February at 20.15 hours in the Municipal Library of Ibiza.

P: How did you start with Catalan?

Of: When I arrived, children of immigrants who did not know him came. We decided in an association that we had begun we had to talk about it. That is why we school 100 O 120 Children to learn Catalan and join the educational system better. From there, I studied the language.

P: Does the translation give something new to poems?

Of: Maybe we find a new poem; But not in feeling, but in form. As stated in the book, It is the Catalan version of Bartomeu Ribes. It means that there may be many versions. Anyway, I am delighted with the interpretation of Ribes.

P: These texts were published ten years ago. Do you recognize them in them?

Of: Totally because I make the sensations of that moment. I would not change what is already because it was what I felt at the time, But there are always things that are seen in another way.

P: El poema 'v’ mentions Hernández and García Lorca. What have been your literary influences?

Of: In Ecuador I had a lot of influence from Hernández and Whitman. Hernández is very direct and committed to the social issue. Whitman wrote poetry of ego as integrity of the human being. García Lorca is different because he talks about himself and his people.
